GEPROVASThe association GEPROVAS is a local non-profit association created in 1993. It was born from the common will of Prof. Nabil Chakfé, a vascular surgeon (Strasbourg), and Professor Bernard Durand (Mechanics of soft materials, ENSISA - Mulhouse) to understand and characterize a number of complications that occurred on vascular prostheses, including tearing and rupture phenomena observed after several years of implantation in patients. The GEPROVAS is a major player in the expertise and analysis of cardiovascular medical devices. It has a unique knowledge capital derived from:
In order to meet the expectations in terms of quality in public health and the safety of patient care, the current findings highlight that Europe is currently looking for a simple and effective medical device surveillance system, rapid and comprehensive, based on scientific decision-making. There is also a growing need for training of healthcare professionals to target the excellence and minimize undesirable events of a surgical act. Our solution, at GEPROVAS, is based on the strong scientific knowledge and clinical know-how of internationally recognized multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams in the field of biomaterials and techniques applied to vascular surgery (material mechanics, mechanics and structure of materials, textiles, vascular surgery, ...). It is a structure of excellence, innovative and independent, serving public health and innovation at every stage of the life cycle of a medical device.
